Oven Cleaning Costs

If you’ve searched “how much does oven cleaning cost” recently, you’ve probably seen a wide range of figures thrown around — anything from £45 to well over £200. That range isn’t wrong, but it’s also not very helpful if you’re trying to work out what a fair price looks like for a professional clean here in Norfolk.

I’m Mark, and I run Oven Cleaners Norfolk from Fakenham. I’ve been cleaning ovens across the county for years, and I can tell you exactly what drives the price — and why the cheapest quote isn’t always the one to go with.

What Does Oven Cleaning Cost in Norfolk?

Here’s what you’ll typically pay for a professional oven clean in this part of the world:

ApplianceTypical Norfolk Price
Single oven£55 – £75
Neff Hide & Slide£65 – £85
Double oven£85 – £100
Range cooker£110 – £150
AGA / Rayburn (2-oven)£140 – £175
AGA / Rayburn (4-oven)£190 – £260
Gas hob£25 – £40
Induction hob£10 – £20
Extractor fan (standard)£25 – £35
Extractor fan (range)£35 – £45
Microwave£20 – £30

These are honest market prices for a proper, professional job in Norfolk — not a race-to-the-bottom quote. My own pricing is published on the website if you want something specific rather than a range.

Why Do Prices Vary So Much?

The national figures you’ll see quoted online — £45 for a single oven, for example — tend to reflect either heavily discounted introductory offers, urban operators with very low travel costs, or frankly, the kind of service where speed matters more than results. Here’s what genuinely affects the price:

Size and type of appliance. A compact single oven is a straightforward job. A four-oven AGA with a hotplate, a warming oven, and years of built-up carbon is an entirely different day’s work. Range cookers with multiple cavities and a separate grill fall somewhere in between. Size isn’t everything — the type of oven matters too. Neff Hide & Slide doors, for instance, involve more disassembly and take longer to do properly.

Condition. A lightly used oven that gets cleaned once a year is very different to one that’s been cooking Sunday roasts for five years with no attention in between. Most reputable cleaners — myself included — quote a standard price and absorb moderate variation. If an oven is genuinely extreme, it’s worth mentioning when you book.

Location in Norfolk. Norfolk is a big, rural county. Travel time matters. A cleaner based in Norwich can reach the city in minutes; getting to the North Norfolk coast, the Brecks, or west Norfolk properly adds travel time that has to be factored in. Be wary of very cheap quotes from operators who haven’t thought through their travel costs — it often means they cut corners elsewhere to make the numbers work.

Products and method. Caustic dip tank systems are fast but can damage certain oven components and leave a chemical residue. Caustic-free, biodegradable products take more time and care but are safer for your oven, your kitchen, and your family. I use 100% caustic-free products on every job — it’s a choice that adds time but it’s the right way to do it.

Whether the cleaner is local and independent. National franchise operators have overheads — franchise fees, call centre costs, marketing spend — that get built into the price. Local independents don’t. That said, local doesn’t automatically mean better; it depends entirely on the individual.

What Should You Actually Expect to Pay?

If someone quotes you £35 for a single oven clean in Norfolk, I’d ask some questions. At that price, either the travel isn’t factored in, the products are cheap, or the job is going to be done in under an hour whether it’s finished or not.

A fair price for a thorough, professional single oven clean in Norfolk sits around £65. That reflects a proper dwell time for the cleaning products, careful disassembly and reassembly of all removable parts, a clean that includes in between the door glass (both panes, not just the outside), and someone who’s accountable if something isn’t right.

For a double oven, expect to pay £90–£100. For a range cooker, £120 upwards depending on the size. AGAs are a specialist job — not every oven cleaner works on them — and they’re priced accordingly.

How Long Should an Oven Clean Take?

This is something I hear about regularly when I arrive at a job — and it’s worth addressing directly because time and price are closely linked.

A single oven, done properly, takes around one to two hours. A double oven is closer to two hours. If someone is in and out in twenty minutes, the job hasn’t been done properly — it’s as simple as that. The cleaning products need time to work, the components need time to soak, and there are parts of the oven that take time to reach and clean correctly.

I’ve turned up to clean ovens where the customer has said “it didn’t look like that after the last person did it” — meaning the previous clean left it in a worse state than they expected. I’ve also had customers tell me I’m the third oven cleaner they’ve tried, the previous two both being national companies. One left black liquid running down the back of the oven after the job was supposedly finished.

That’s not a minor oversight. Black liquid running down the back of an oven after a clean means either the components haven’t been rinsed properly and residue is still running off, the back of the oven behind the fan cover hasn’t been touched, or both. It’s what happens when someone is working to a time target rather than a standard. That customer rebooked with me immediately.

A proper clean takes the time it takes. That’s part of what you’re paying for.

Is It Worth It?

Yes, and not just for the obvious reasons. Beyond the cosmetic result, a clean oven:

  • Runs more efficiently, which can reduce energy bills
  • Doesn’t taint food with smoke or burnt residue
  • Is less likely to trigger smoke alarms mid-cook
  • Lasts longer — heavy carbon buildup causes real damage over time
  • Is something a good letting agent or house buyer notices

Most of my customers in Norfolk book once or twice a year and treat it as routine maintenance rather than a one-off crisis clean. The price is the same either way — I quote a fixed price and take the job as I find it.

How to Get a Straight Price

I don’t do vague “from £X” quotes. My prices are listed clearly on the website, and if you’re not sure which category your appliance falls into — particularly if you have a range cooker, an AGA, or something a bit unusual — just get in touch and I’ll give you a straight answer.

I cover all of Norfolk from my base in Fakenham, including Norwich, King’s Lynn, Holt, Cromer, Sheringham, Wells-next-the-Sea, Hunstanton, Swaffham, Dereham, Wymondham, and everywhere in between.
